"But what if this does not occur." James said, hoping to give students a "dose of reality".
The answer? Get a solid education - no step to suppress the dreams, but to be prepared if those dreams occur.
Creation of this Foundation
is one of the objectives of new programs for the ninth year of the Vallejo City Unified School District, which will be launched with the new school year this fall.
Ultimately, the objective of the ninth year programs, a Jesse Bethel High school and the other at Vallejo high school is to reduce the district alarming dropout rate.
According to the latest figures from Department of education State, half of all students in public school in Vallejo manage graduate four years later. Part of the loss arises from the experience of students in ninth grade, says James.

James, a former coordinator of Hogan High School and Gigi Patrick, the main current of Vallejo Middle School reform, will direct the ninth year programs. James will be held in Bethel and Patrick at Vallejo High.
The ninth grade, as the bridge between the middle and high schools, is often cited as a crucial point in the development of the student.
"We could clearly identify students who would not graduated from high school in the ninth year," said Patrick.
Students are at risk of becoming disconnected from their school - and the whole
educational process - as soon as they will be lost on the campus of the much larger that they are used for."It was really hard for (first year students) to connect and identify with adults on campus,", said Patrick, itself a product of the Vallejo schools.
To mitigate this, the district has established its ninth year program, which focuses on the learning of small communities. These communities, already established at the school level to High Hogan, serve more small groups within the school community.
There are about three of these communities for the ninth year programs in high schools, Bethel and Vallejo. Hogan will close as high school next week.
The ninth year at Vallejo high school program will be installed on the Vallejo Middle School campus, which will also close next week. The ninth year of Bethel program will be on campus, although in separate buildings of the upperclassmen.
One of the goals of new programs is to have a teaching more custom, said James. A team of adults on campus will determine the student and to be better able to provide support, James said.
"This is not the work that will be done in isolation by staff - this will truly be a community effort," said James.
For example, upperclassmen will also get involved via crews of the ninth year programs link. Older students were several students from first year to mentor as a way to stay connected to their schools and the education of students, said James.
Next summer, the ninth year programs also offer an optional program of "bride of summer" that will provide additional support for all students, ranging from those who might enter high school to those who need additional SAT Prep help.
Parents will be able to monitor the progress of their children "parent portal" line Those without a computer or access to the Internet can come on campus to use parent rooms, said Patrick.

At the time where students move on their second year, they are expected to come with a comprehensive plan for 10 years.
"It is important that students take responsibility for their education," said James.
